To look up a service in the services schedule, you need to know how the service is classified.
Services are classified in the schedules according to sector, sub-sector and Central Production Classification (CPC) number.
The WTO Services Sectoral Classification Code (Services Sectoral Classification List WTO Document MTN.GNS/120, also referred to as W-120) is used to classify services sectors. A summarised version of the Sectoral Classification Code is included in Appendix 5 of this booklet and the full Code can be found on the World Trade Organization website.
The service sectors are divided into sub-sectors which are then further broken down into services using the CPC number.
The CPC is a numerical listing of almost all services. It expands on the Services Sectoral Classification Code. It is similar to the Harmonised System (HS) code, which is used to classify goods. The full CPC can be found on the United Nations website
